Health & Safety Policy

At Nusantara Craft Academy, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students, instructors, visitors, and staff are our top priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe learning and working environment in all workshops, classrooms, and facilities associated with our academy.

1. Purpose

This policy outlines the principles and responsibilities that ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone participating in courses, workshops, and daily operations at Nusantara Craft Academy.

2. General Commitment

  • We comply with all applicable Malaysian laws and safety regulations, including workplace and public safety standards.
  • We provide adequate safety equipment, ventilation, and protective tools appropriate for jewellery-making and metalwork activities.
  • We continuously review and improve our safety procedures through staff training, inspections, and student feedback.

3. Student Responsibilities

  • All students and participants must follow the health and safety guidelines explained during orientation or class briefings.
  • Students are required to wear proper safety gear such as aprons, gloves, safety glasses, and closed shoes during workshops.
  • No food or drinks are allowed in designated workshop areas.
  • Any accident, injury, or unsafe condition must be immediately reported to the instructor or academy management.

4. Instructor and Staff Responsibilities

  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are in safe working condition before each session.
  • Provide students with proper instruction and supervision during all hands-on activities.
  • Monitor compliance with safety rules and correct unsafe behaviour immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment to prevent hazards.

5. Workshop Safety Rules

  • Only authorized individuals may use workshop equipment and tools.
  • All participants must complete a basic safety briefing before beginning any metalwork or jewellery-making session.
  • Long hair must be tied back and loose clothing or jewellery should be avoided.
  • Flammable materials must be handled with caution and stored properly.
  • Emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits must be kept accessible at all times.

6. First Aid and Emergency Response

  • First aid kits are available at all workshop areas and classrooms.
  • In case of injury or emergency, participants must immediately notify the instructor or academy staff.
  • Emergency evacuation procedures are displayed in each training area.
  • We cooperate fully with emergency services if medical assistance or fire response is required.

7. Hygiene and Cleanliness

  • All students and staff are expected to maintain personal hygiene and keep workstations clean.
  • Tools and equipment must be cleaned and returned to their designated place after use.
  • Waste materials, including metal scraps and chemicals, must be disposed of properly in designated containers.

8. COVID-19 and Health Protocols

  • Participants who feel unwell are advised to stay home and inform the academy in advance.
  • We follow the latest health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).
  • Hand sanitizers are provided in all classrooms and workshops.
  • Regular cleaning and disinfection are conducted for all tools, work surfaces, and shared equipment.

9. Policy Review

This Health & Safety Policy is reviewed regularly to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with current laws and industry standards.
